Joe began his career as a UNIVAC and IBM programmer while in the USAF Strategic Air Command (SAC), and has held a variety of positions in the systems software and communications disciplines with Burroughs Defense, Space and Special Systems (Unisys), St. Johnsbury Trucking Company (SJTC), and Honeywell Federal Systems.
In addition to participating in various standards organizations, Joe was on the board of TNS, Aether, and the American Trucking Association.

Mr. Harris formerly served as Chairman, President and CEO of Continental Airlines, Air Canada, World Airways and CalJet, and is the former President and COO of Delta Air Lines. Harris is also a member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. In 2004, he was inducted into the Georgia Tech College of Engineering Hall of Fame. In addition to an Aeronautical Engineering Degree from Georgia Tech, Harris has an honorary Doctor of Laws Degree from Pepperdine University.
In recognition of his distinguished contributions to the field of aviation, Hollis L. Harris was enshrined into the Georgia Aviation Hall of Fame on April 23, 2005.
